Foreword by Michael O'Keefe
Peter Seitz was a design pioneer. A graduate of both the HfG Ulm and Yale- arguably the world's most influential graphic design programs of the 1960s- he arrived in the Twin Cities in 1964 to establish a tradition of modern design at the Walker Art Center before founding a succession of modern design studios in Minneapolis. In the 1970s, he was among the first practitioners to understand and advocate for the role of computers in the design process. He brought technology and modernist rigor to the curriculum at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, where he taught for more than thirty years and influenced generations of designers. Seitz shaped the design environment of the Twin Cities by bringing together the business and arts communities in service to the common good and by helping to found organizations to promote the value of design.
Peter Seitz: Designing of a Life is the first in-depth documentation of Seitz's unique story and influential work. Containing new historical research and never-before-published images, the book includes essays by Andrew Blauvelt, Kolean Pitner, and Bruce N. Wright that survey the compass of his prolific and influential life.
