This limited edition multiple, CATALOGUE (BACK OF POSTCARD READS) MEMORIES, by Rirkrit Tiravanija was published on the occasion of his 1995 Walker exhibition Economies: Hans Accola and Rirkrit Tiravanija and his yearlong residency at the museum. Encased in a compartmentalized aluminum box are photographs, audio- and videotape, drawings, maps, notes, prints, a small nylon tent, a digitized slideshow on disk, and other documentation and collected information that can be assembled in myriad ways. In the spirit of Marcel Duchamp’s Boîte-en-Valise and Fluxus boxes of the 1960s, the multiple serves as a conceptual re-creation of Tiravanija’s exhibition and residency in miniature, while at the same time speaking to the larger issues of his art as a whole.
