Smut of The Middle World Vol. 1: Pakistan

Damaged reels, test shots, and banned and censored magazine photoshoots from Pakistan — Smut of The Middle World Vol. 1 is an excavation of a visual culture that was never supposed to survive.

Before the censors shredded it, before the decades buried it, Pakistan's film and print industry produced an erotic vernacular unlike anything else in the world. This book collects what remained: warped negatives, out-takes, studio outtakes, forbidden spreads, and the accidental pornography of the archive.
