T.L. Solien, “Psyche: The Blue Martin”, 1985

Printed by Tyler Graphics, Ltd., Mt. Kisco, New York

Published by the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis

This 23-color print by the influential Midwestern painter T.L. Solien centers on an image of bird in a globe-shaped cage, a recurring symbol in the artist’s work. His images, which are both surreal and autobiographical, feature figures both found and imagined that Solien has mined from his dense, personal lexicon of memories, feelings, and painterly effects.
