Featured Artist: Prairie Woodworking
Tim Granlund grew up working with his dad in a bronze foundry, went to school to be a painter, and now spends his time designing and building furniture in his Minneapolis shop, Prairie Woodworking. He received his MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and first honed his woodworking skills on the crew at the Walker Art Center. Margaret Pezalla-Granlund is a visual artist, curator, and museum worker. She received her MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. She was awarded an Artist’s Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board (2013), a McKnight Fellowship, and a Jerome Travel Grant. She has exhibited both locally and nationally, at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Santa Monica Museum, and at Burnett Gallery in Minneapolis. She is fascinated by meteors, the barely visible, and the canals on Mars.
Together these artists design and create products that combine their love of art and craft, their appreciation for useful tools, their skills as artists and builders, and their need to keep themselves, and their kids, busy with creative activities.
